Mobile Service, the deeper look
Mobile auto glass service is the delivery of windshield repair, replacement, and other auto glass work at the customer’s location, a driveway, a parking lot, a workplace, a shop floor, using a fully-equipped service van instead of requiring the customer to bring the vehicle to a fixed shop.
Why we built the business around mobile
The traditional in-shop model has two real costs the customer pays: the drive to the shop and the wait in the waiting room. For a windshield replacement that takes 90 minutes of actual work, those hidden costs can add another 90 minutes to a half day depending on where you live in Southwestern Ontario. Mobile eliminates both. You unlock the vehicle in your driveway, we show up, the work happens around your day, and you walk out to the finished job when it’s done. For most drivers in London, that’s a coffee, a phone call, or a meeting they didn’t have to skip. For drivers in Sarnia, Strathroy, St. Thomas, or anywhere along the 50 km radius around London, it’s the difference between getting the glass fixed this week or next month. Our mobile vs in-shop guide walks through the comparison.
What the vans actually carry
A fully-equipped mobile unit isn’t a stripped-down shop, it carries the same things the shop has: OEM-equivalent replacement glass matched to your specific vehicle, automotive-grade urethane that meets FMVSS 212 safety standards, the ADAS calibration target boards and diagnostic tools required for forward-camera recalibration on newer vehicles, optical-grade resin and UV cure equipment for chip repair, vacuum and clean-up tools for glass debris, and the trim-removal kits for every model we work on. The only thing the shop has that the van doesn’t is the floor space, and that’s exactly the space we use the customer’s driveway or parking lot for.
The service radius
We dispatch mobile units across the full 50+ communities within roughly 50 km of London. That covers London proper, the West corridor (Komoka, Strathroy, Mount Brydges, Lambeth), the North corridor (Arva, Ilderton, Lucan, Granton, Thorndale), the East corridor along the 401 (Dorchester, Thamesford, Ingersoll, Woodstock), the South toward St. Thomas (Glanworth, Mapleton, Tillsonburg), and beyond into Sarnia and Lambton County. There is no travel fee inside the radius, the dispatch cost is built into the price of the service. See the service-areas page for the full coverage list and the regional pages with route specifics.
What you need at the location
Not much: a flat parking spot (driveway, parking lot, shop floor), a few square feet of clearance around the vehicle so the technician can work, and access to the vehicle. We don’t need power; the vans run their own equipment. We don’t need shelter for chip repair or smaller jobs, but for full windshield replacements in heavy rain we’ll reschedule, because contamination is the enemy of a clean urethane bond. Snow we can usually work around with a portable canopy or by sheltering against a building.
How weather affects timing
Ontario weather is part of the dispatch math. We adjust the urethane formula for cold-weather replacements so the safe drive-away time (SDAT) stays manageable, typically 30 to 60 minutes even at temperatures below freezing. We don’t replace windshields in heavy rain. We schedule chip repairs into any weather. Our safe drive-away time guide goes deeper on the cold-weather cure timing.
How to book
Call, request a quote online, or message us. We confirm the glass, your insurance details, and a same-day or next-day appointment that fits your location and schedule. Most appointments take 60-90 minutes including the ADAS calibration where required. See our how long does replacement take post for the full breakdown.
Insurance, handled
Most Windshield Claims Cost You $0
We work with every insurance carrier and handle the claim from start to finish. In Ontario, windshield glass is covered under the comprehensive part of your policy, and a single glass claim usually won't raise your premium. We cover up to 100% of your deductible, so most drivers pay nothing out of pocket.
Mobile Service, FAQ
Is there an extra fee for mobile service?
No, mobile service is free within our primary radius (London and 35+ surrounding towns).
Can you come to my workplace?
Absolutely. As long as there's safe access to the vehicle and the weather cooperates (or you have covered parking), we'll do it at your office.
