Auto glass service
Windshield Repair in London, Ontario
Caught it early? A rock chip is far cheaper and faster to fix than a full replacement. Our resin injection restores the structural integrity of the glass and stops the crack from spreading, and because it's a repair, many insurers waive the deductible entirely.
What's Involved
We clean and vacuum the damage, inject optical-grade resin under pressure, and cure it with UV light. Most repairs take about 30 minutes. The blemish becomes 80-90% less visible; the goal is strength and stopping the spread.
Why Choose Us for Windshield Repair
- Stops chips from becoming cracks
- ~30-minute fix
- Often $0 with comprehensive coverage
- Restores structural integrity
- Mobile, we come to you
Windshield Repair, the deeper look
Windshield repair is the general procedure for restoring damaged but salvageable laminated auto glass, most commonly chip repair via resin injection, but also short-crack repair when the damage is fresh, contained, and outside the driver’s primary sight line.
The repair-vs-replace decision
Every damaged windshield gets diagnosed against three criteria: size, location, and freshness. A clean chip smaller than a loonie, anywhere on the glass, is a repair. A short crack, typically under six inches, outside the driver’s sight line, caught within a few days of forming, is often a repair. Anything bigger, anything in the driver’s primary sight line, or anything that’s already had moisture and dirt work into the cracks is usually a replacement. Our chip vs crack guide covers the full decision tree.
What “repair” actually does to the glass
Auto windshields are laminated, two thin layers of glass with a clear PVB (polyvinyl butyral) plastic interlayer bonded between them. When a stone hits, it usually damages only the outer layer; the inner layer and the PVB stay intact, which is why the windshield doesn’t shatter when you take a chip. The repair process injects optical-grade resin into the damaged area of the outer layer and into any fissures running into the laminate. Once the resin cures under UV light, it bonds the damaged area back into a single structural unit. The chip won’t be invisible afterward, there’s usually a faint mark, but the structural integrity is restored, and the damage stops spreading.
Why chip repair specifically gets waived deductibles in Ontario
Most Ontario insurers will waive your comprehensive deductible for chip repair but not for windshield replacement. The reason is straightforward math: a chip repair costs them roughly $100, while the windshield replacement it prevents costs them anywhere from $500 to $1,500 once ADAS calibration is included on newer vehicles. So they make it free for you to catch the damage early. Worth asking your insurer at the time of claim, when we book your appointment, we can confirm the policy with you. Either way, we handle the insurance claim paperwork end-to-end.
The 30-minute window
A chip repair is genuinely fast. We arrive at your driveway, set up the bridge tool over the chip, inject the resin under pressure, hit it with UV light, and clean up. The vehicle is drivable immediately afterward, there’s no urethane cure to wait out like there is with windshield replacement. For most drivers in London this is a quick stop during the morning, between the school run and the office. We don’t need anything from you beyond a parked vehicle and a few square feet of room around it.
Why “I’ll watch it for a few weeks” is the wrong call
The two biggest reasons chips turn into replacements are the two reasons drivers wait: thermal cycling and contamination. Sitting outside through an Ontario week of -10°C nights, the chip stress-cycles. Sitting through a few car washes and rain showers, dirt and water work into the fissures. Both make a clean repair harder and increase the risk that the chip turns into a spreading crack overnight. Our winter windshield care guide walks through why this happens and what defrost technique to use in the meantime. The right move is to book the repair the week the chip appears.
Mobile, same as replacement
Repair work doesn’t require a shop. The same mobile vans that do full replacements carry resin and the curing equipment. We come to your driveway in London, Sarnia, St. Thomas, Strathroy, or anywhere inside our radius. No travel fee, no waiting room, no day off work.
Insurance, handled
Most Windshield Claims Cost You $0
We work with every insurance carrier and handle the claim from start to finish. In Ontario, windshield glass is covered under the comprehensive part of your policy, and a single glass claim usually won't raise your premium. We cover up to 100% of your deductible, so most drivers pay nothing out of pocket.
Windshield Repair, FAQ
Can my chip be repaired?
Usually, yes, if the chip is smaller than a toonie (about an inch) and any crack is shorter than roughly three inches, and it's not directly in the driver's line of sight. Larger or driver's-side damage may need replacement.
Will the chip disappear completely?
It'll improve a lot, usually 80-90% less visible, but a faint mark can remain. The real goal is restoring strength and stopping the spread.
