How Much Does Windshield Replacement Cost in Ontario? (2026)
Windshield replacement in Ontario usually runs a few hundred dollars, but ADAS calibration, glass type, and your vehicle change the number. Here's what drives the price, and why most insured drivers pay $0.
If you’re searching “windshield replacement cost in Ontario,” you’ve probably already found a dozen pages that dance around the number. Let’s be straight with you: the honest answer is “it depends,” but here’s exactly what it depends on, so you can spot a fair price when you see one.
The realistic range
For most everyday vehicles in Ontario, a windshield replacement lands in the low-to-mid hundreds of dollars. Older or simpler cars can sit near the bottom of that range. Newer vehicles, big SUVs, and anything loaded with sensors climb higher, sometimes well past it once calibration is added (more on that below).
The only way to know your number is your year, make, model, and glass options, which is why we give a firm quote up front instead of a vague “starting at” price.
What actually drives the cost
1. ADAS calibration. This is the big one in 2026. If your car has lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking, or adaptive cruise, there’s a camera mounted to your windshield that must be recalibrated after the glass is replaced. Calibration typically adds $200–$600, and it isn’t optional, an uncalibrated camera can misread the road. We cover the details in why your new windshield needs ADAS calibration.
2. Glass type (OEM vs OEM-equivalent). Dealer (OEM) glass costs more; quality OEM-equivalent glass meets the same safety standards for less. We use OEM-equivalent unless your vehicle specifically needs OEM.
3. Your vehicle. Rain sensors, heating elements, acoustic interlayers, heads-up display, and large or heavily curved glass all push the price up.
4. Mobile vs shop. With us, mobile service is no extra charge, we bring the shop to your driveway. (Here’s mobile vs in-shop if you’re weighing it.)
The part most people miss: you probably pay $0
Here’s what makes the sticker price almost beside the point. In Ontario, windshield glass is covered under the comprehensive part of your insurance, and a single glass claim usually won’t raise your premium.
Even better: we bill your insurer directly and cover up to 100% of your deductible. So for most insured drivers, a “few hundred dollar” replacement costs them nothing out of pocket, calibration included. See exactly how that works on our insurance page.
No insurance, or not using it? We’ll give you a straight, competitive cash price with no surprises.
What a fair quote looks like
A trustworthy quote should:
- Be a real number for your vehicle, not “starting at $X”
- Include ADAS calibration if your car needs it (watch for quotes that leave it out to look cheaper, then add it later)
- Spell out the glass type and the warranty (ours is a lifetime workmanship warranty)
